CORK is a unique and wonderful wine store with two locations in Calgary. Our first store in Beacon Hill has just made it through its first year and our newest location in CrossIron Mills opened in August of 2009.

We believe that customer service is our key, and pride ourselves on both learning from, and educating our customers. We won’t carry the wines you see every day; instead, we carry the wines we think you have to try. If your favorite wine isn’t on our floor, we can do our best to get it for you, or recommend something that may be even better.

If you are having turkey for dinner, let us point you to the perfect Pinot Noir. Looking for a great gift for someone whose tastes you’re not quite sure of? We can help. At CORK, we not only love to talk about wine, but we love to learn about it too. The best part is that everyone’s tastes are different and it’s safe to say that every wine we carry could easily become someone’s favorite!

We are one of the few wine boutiques in the city that allow you to try before you buy. There are typically four whites and four reds in our tasting machine for you to sample every day. So come and see us and talk wine.

Kensington Wine Market

1257 Kensington Road Northwest

www.kensingtonwinemarket.com

Our doors opened on Friday, May 15, 1992, two-and-a-half years before the provincial government fully privatized the sale of alcohol. Richard Lindseth, a Calgary architect, and local businesswoman Nancy Carten, formed a partnership which became the Kensington Wine Market.

Richard used his architectural talents to design our unique marketplace and his wine expertise to put together our initial collection of wines. Nancy, an experienced retailer, gathered together our first small, but eager, staff and "ran the back office". Both partners are still involved and as committed to the market’s success as they were in the beginning.

The ensuing years have been both challenging and rewarding as we grew from a small family of 4 employees to a larger one of 20 dedicated oenophiles. Our wine market has evolved from a modest neighborhood corner store to one of the most dynamic and unique stores in the country. The addition of our e-tail website adds another milestone to our growth.
